Haydar Çolakoğlu: “The solution to the problem of traffic lies in the sharing economy.”
Speaking at “The change shaping the future course of transportation: Open Innovation” panel discussion during the Transist 2017 fair, YOLO CEO Haydar Çolakoğlu noted that the private sector, the municipality, and the state need to act in concert in order to deal with the traffic problems that the people of İstanbul face. He then added “As YOLO, our aim is to solve the traffic problem through the sharing economy.”
Pointing out that YOLO set out two years earlier with the goal of providing quality and convenient transportation service to everyone who worries about getting around in the midst of the city’s chaos and confusion, Çolakoğlu said “We provide land, air, and sea mobility service through our mobile app. Our aim is to provide people with more convenient transportation options and allow them to have the benefit of mobility as a service and without having to buy a car.”
YOLO coming soon to Ankara
Emphasizing that drivers take part in the system with self-owned vehicles and that YOLO is mindful of the rights and interests of both drivers and passengers, Çolakoğlu revealed that the company’s next step would be in Ankara. “We’re handling about 2,000 starts a day with about 500 vehicles, which we’ve got located all over İstanbul. We plan to start providing service in Ankara too in the near future” he said and then added “We are a locally-headquartered, national company that pays VAT and corporation tax. As YOLO our aim is to contribute to the development of transportation services in our country while also helping to reduce road traffic.”
