Kastamonu’s 100-Year Railway Dream is Back on the Agenda
Haydar Çolakoğlu, President of The Kastamonu Platform, stated that the railway project is a strategic necessity for Kastamonu.
As Kastamonu's long-standing expectation for a railway is once again up for discussion, evaluations regarding the issue have been welcomed. The resurgence of the railway project, which has been voiced for nearly a century, has brought along hopes for development in the city.
‘The Railway is a Strategic Investment’
The statement regarding the issue came from Haydar Çolakoğlu, President of The Kastamonu Platform. Çolakoğlu emphasized that the railway is not merely a transportation project, but also a strategic investment in terms of industry, commerce, tourism, and employment.
It was stated that establishing the railway connection would be a significant development move for the Western Black Sea region as much as it is for Kastamonu.

The statement noted that integrating Kastamonu into the national railway network has become a necessity rather than a choice. It was pointed out that modern transportation infrastructure plays a critical role in strengthening the city's economic potential.
Reminding that Kastamonu was one of Anatolia's important gateways to the world in the past through the Port of İnebolu, Çolakoğlu expressed that a similar transportation vision should be revived.
